Recipient Address Validation

GSS allows mailers to choose to validate Recipient addresses prior to printing labels for a package.  Address validation helps to lessen the chance of incorrect package delivery by confirming that the USPS recognizes the address as a real, physical location.

GSS offers two types of Recipient address validation:

Suggestions:

For each package, GSS prompts you to review one or more suggested addresses that the system determines to be a match.  You can either select the Recipient address as it was entered or select a USPS-approved match that has been put into a standardized address format.  GSS  prints the address you select on the package's labels.  

This option allows you to have control over the printed address, but adds a step to your workflow.
Automatic:

GSS automatically finds and selects a matching address in a standardized format, without prompting you.  When you print labels, GSS prints the standardized address that it selected.  

This option allows GSS to control the address matching and format, but is faster because it does not include a review step.

How to Use Suggested Recipient Addresses

If you are using suggested Recipient address validation, GSS prompts you to review the Recipient address for each package and select either the address as written or a verified match.  These steps show the process for selecting an address:

  1. Enter (or scan) a Package ID to retrieve a package's information.
  2. Click the Recipient address's Edit button to display the address dialog box.
  3. Review (and edit, if necessary) the address, and then click the Save button.  GSS prompts you to select either the address as entered or a verified match.

  4. Select an address and then click the OK button.  When you click the Print Package Labels button to print labels for the package, GSS will print your selection as the Recipient's address.

Alternately, if you click the Print Package Labels button without following the above steps, GSS displays a message prompting you to do so.  You must make an address selection before printing labels.

How to Get Recipient Address Validation
