Scan Packages into Receptacles
Some shipment consolidators prefer to perform piece-to-sack mapping of packages to receptacles using a barcode scanner rather than the GSS Default Shipment or Closed Shipment pages.
On the Scan Only page:
- Scan a receptacle label's barcode. The Receptacle ID appears in the Receptacle section of the Scan Only page.
- Begin scanning package barcodes to map them to the receptacle.
- To indicate a successful scan, GSS provides a positive "beep" sound and prints a package label. (Packages that have been previously labeled can be scanned and mapped, but GSS does not print another label.)
- To indicate an unsuccessful scan, GSS provides a negative "beep" sound and displays an error message to assist you with troubleshooting.
- Continue scanning packages until you wish to change receptacles.
- Scan another receptacle label. GSS maps any packages you subsequently scan to this new receptacle.
- When you have mapped all of the packages to the appropriate receptacles, return to the Default Shipment to close the receptacles.
