When you close a dispatch, GSS prompts you to enter transportation information for the dispatch, confirm that you want to close the dispatch, and then print dispatch reports.
On the Close Dispatch page you can enter the Vehicle Type & Number, Departure (Date & Time), and Arrival (Date & Time) for the dispatch. This information may be required or optional, depending on your mailing location.
If you are not required to enter transport information but choose to do so, please enter all of the requested information. GSS will not save incomplete information.
To enter Vehicle Type & Number, select the type of vehicle from the drop-down menu and then enter the vehicle identification number in the field provided. For example, if you select the type "Airplane," enter the flight number as the vehicle identification number.
For Departure (Date & Time) and Arrival (Date & Time), click the calendar icon to select the appropriate dates and then enter times in the fields provided.
To close the dispatch, click Close Dispatch.
If your location uses receptacles and performs piece-to-sack mapping, GSS displays a page that details: 1) the number of receptacles in the dispatch; 2) any non-dutiable receptacles containing zero packages; 3) any individual packages that are not included in a receptacle. Review this page and verify that the dispatch's contents are accurate. If they are not, click Cancel and return to the Current Dispatch page to make any necessary adjustments. If the dispatch's contents are accurate, click OK.
GSS displays a prompt to confirm that you want to close the dispatch. Click OK to close it; otherwise, click Cancel.
When you close a dispatch, GSS prompts you to automatically generate the reports that are required by the USPS for that dispatch.
Select OK to generate the required reports, which you can then print. If you wish to generate the reports later (or also print optional reports) click Cancel. Navigate to the Dispatch History page for links to generate required and optional dispatch reports. The Dispatch Reports help topic includes more information about generating dispatch reports.
