Getting Started

Overview of GSS

The United States Postal Service's Global Shipping Software (GSS) is designed to streamline the shipping process by supporting data capture, postage calculation, label generation, and data transfer for packages being shipped through the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Navigating GSS

When you first log in, GSS directs you to the Workstation Settings page where you must configure your label and document printing preferences. Once you save your preferences, GSS directs you to a starting page where you can decide what you would like to do in GSS: manage packages, create labels, print reports, etc.  Your starting page depends upon your mailer type; processing mailers (who do not work with shipments) start at the What Would You Like To Do? page, while shippers start at the Current Shipment page and shipment consolidators start at the Shipment Queue page.

You can use the main menu to navigate between different parts of the GSS application. The main menu offers the following sections:  Shipping Center, Mailer Center, Settings, Reports and Help.  Clicking each of these sections displays links to other features of GSS:

If, while navigating through the GSS application, you find that a feature you need does not appear or you would like to begin using a feature that you do not currently have access to, please contact the GSS Help Desk for assistance.
