Scale Settings
If you are using a workstation-connected scale, connect it and install
any necessary drivers prior to configuring your GSS workstation settings.
You are not required to use a workstation-connected scale to use
GSS.
Select your scale from the Scale Model
menu, and its unit of measurement from the Weight
Unit menu.
- If your scale uses a serial port connection, configure
the Comm Port,
Data Bits, Parity,
Baud Rate, and Stop
Bits settings.
- If your scale uses a USB connection, GSS will automatically
detect your scale's configuration. You do not need to make any
changes to these settings.
If GSS does not automatically detect your USB scale Vendor, Product,
and Device IDs, or if you want to locate these yourself, follow these
steps:
- Click your computer's Start
button.
- Double-click to open the Control
Panel.
- Double-click to open the Device
Manager. (Alternately, double-click System
and then click Device Manager.)
- Click Human Interface
Devices and then click USB Input
Device Properties.
- Click the Details
tab and then, from the Property
menu, select Hardware IDs.
- In the Values
box, locate the value for your printer. This value contains the Vendor
ID, Product ID, and Device ID. For example, for the value "USB\VID_xxxx&PID_yyyy&REV_zzzz,"
"xxxx"is the Vendor ID, "yyyy"; is the Product
ID, and "zzzz" is the Device ID.
- From the Property
menu select Bus reported device description
to verify the product name of your USB scale.
- Write down your Vendor ID, Product ID, and Device
ID (Step 5) and enter these values on the Workstation
Settings page.
Save Your Settings
Click Save when you are finished configuring
the settings. You may modify the workstation settings at any time
by clicking the Settings menu link and
then clicking Workstation Settings.
