Receptacle Information
The Receptacle Information page allows
you to:
- Provide required information for the receptacle.
- Print a label for the receptacle.
- Reprint a receptacle label that you have previously
printed.
GSS must capture certain information in order to create a new receptacle
record. Once this information is provided, you can print a label to affix
to the receptacle and add the receptacle to the shipment. Certain information,
such as piece count or weight, may be edited after the receptacle is added
to the shipment, but other information (such as the foreign office of
exchange) cannot.
If you need to change receptacle information that cannot be edited,
you should delete the receptacle from the current shipment and then create
a new one using the correct information.
Entering Receptacle Information
To enter receptacle information, first determine whether it is a Direct Country receptacle (containing
packages destined for a single foreign office of exchange) a Mixed
receptacle (containing packages destined for multiple offices of exchange), or
a PMOD receptacle (containing domestic,
non-express Priority Mail packages).
Note: For Pass-Through PPMODI pallets,
use the Direct Country tab.
For Direct Country receptacles, enter
or select the following information:
- Rate Type: Select
the appropriate Rate Type from the list.
- Dutiable: A
dutiable receptacle is one that contains packages with service levels
that require customs forms (IPA/ISAL with customs forms, Commercial

Create a Custom Receptacle Type
GSS allows you to create a custom Receptacle Type for the type of receptacles
commonly used at your location. Custom Receptacle Types are based
on an official receptacle type but have a user-defined name and tare weight.
On the Receptacle Information page,
select a Receptacle Type (for example,
"Pallet" or "Sack w/Packages") and then click the
New Receptacle Type button. Enter a
name for the custom Receptacle Type and its tare weight (the receptacle's
weight when empty. Click Save
to save the custom Receptacle Type to the list. Once saved, you
can select it whenever you need to create a new receptacle.
Note: Once created, you can edit the
tare weight of a custom Receptacle Type but not the name you assign to
it.
